Tiruchirapalli RockFort Temples

Ucchi Pillayar Temple and Thayumanaswamy temple are two temples presesnt abode a Rock Hill in Tiruchy, Tamilnadu. Temple is closer to Chathiram Bus Stand, one of four BusTerminus of Tiruchy.

One would come across Sacred Pond of Temple adjoining Market, before reaching Temple Premises.



Unlike other Major Temples of Tiruchy/Tamilnadu, this temple premises doesnt have dedicated Road or Raja Gopura, which makes an unique experience on visiting Temple.


One needs to climb few hundred steps before reaching Thayumanaswamy temple. The Temple has very restricted Time viewings. Thayumanaswamy Temple Legend is associated with Shiva taking form of Mother to help her ardent women devotee, deliver baby. The Temple also resides Amman Shrine in form of Mattuvar Kuzhalammai. The Temple Shrine is said to be constructed during Pandyan Empire.

On reaching top of hill, one would come across Ucchi Pillayar Shrine.


Ucchi Pillayar Temple resides Ganesha/Ganpati/Pillayar. The temple is said to have been constructed during times of Pallava, Chola and Vijayanagar Kingdoms. The Temple offers stunning view of City.
